About Me
Bryn Kinder is an artist that dabbles a little bit of everything based out of Plano, Texas. She’s not a stranger to approaching new areas — throughout the typical day she’s deeply entrenched in bringing teams together for the greater good through her professional cat herding. By night, her hands are typically covered in whatever artistic medium has caught her interest that day. Art has always been a pleasant escape, and has occupied the other half of her analytical Type A brain.
As a child, Bryn was called out for coloring outside the lines. Not much has changed since then - remaining in the construct of what is placed in front of her has never been of interest. Creating new systems to deliver color and brightness to the world has always been a driving factor that carries her forward in her daily activities. Her interest in chemistry is directly related to her deep rooted pull towards colors. When she was about 16, she spotted a photomicrograph posted on the wall at her community college showing the mysterious and magical color filled phenomenon of birefringence. Soon, that led to a job at the local forensics lab where she realized the beauty of art in science. Each day she left with a smile and more questions and curiosity than the last. After finding her passion for science, she was determined and driven - she received a Bachelors in Science in Chemistry at NIU, and a Masters of Science degree in chemistry from Bowling Green State University.
In her first job, she was hired as a research scientist covered in all sorts of histological dyes. She then went on to work at an adhesives company and found herself an many sticky situations. After some time it became clear that helping others through navigating the world of drug development was her current calling, but in her down time the balance of creating art kept her going. During the pandemic, she found herself spread thin, with a injury preventing her from walking easily. To escape the daily grind, she threw herself into the art world once again. There was no turning back. It was clear that she needed this in her life from here on out. As she thought of her greater goals, she knew starting Equilibrynt Art would give her the skills and confidence that would ground her in the values that made her who she was today and would carry her through the years to come.
Her goal is to one day start a nonprofit and continue her mission to bring brightness and happiness into a world that is not always so forgiving. Those who are faced with tough situations can sometimes need that boost of color in their life to get them through the day. One day she wants to provide that for those who may not be able to find that for themselves. This is what drives her, and this is what her art represents. The name “Equilibrynt” comes from the physics term “equilbrant”, which means a force which brings a body into mechanical equilibrium. The play on words is both to include the scientific background with the name and also to incorporate “Bryn” as a purposeful misspelling. Also, the term is quite appropriate given her husband’s degree is in Physics and he’s supported her artistic endeavors regardless of the messes they make. Further, you can find a tattoo on Bryn’s wrist from the equilibrium sign to signify the importance of balance and to remember it is always ok to be a nerd at heart. The sun represents a vibrancy that can be found throughout Bryn’s art, and you can see a riff on the equilibrium symbol as part of the logo, as well.
